Little Blue Jacket Refashion

This little blue Sherpa jacket was a favorite of both my youngest children. When the littlest one out grew it, I just didn't want to part with it. The first step in reclaiming this little jacket, was to carefully cut the sleeves away from the top stitching. In the photos, you can see that the top stitching is intact at the shoulders where the sleeves once were. Once the sleeves were successfully trimmed away, I used my little one's hand tracing [with an added seam allowance] I had made and cut the mittens from the sleeves. I made sure I made use of the finished cuffs with enough fabric to extend just above the wrist for a secure fit.
